Frequently asked questions
Answers to what people ask us most — about workshops, the shop, custom orders, hiring the kiln or the studio, and visiting. If yours isn't here, get in touch.
Workshops
- Are the workshops taught in English?
- Yes. Every workshop is taught in English and Greek, so visitors to Athens are as welcome as locals.
- Do I need any experience?
- No. Our workshops are beginner-friendly: we show you each step, from preparing the clay to the finished piece.
- What's included in the price?
- The clay, the glazing and the firing are all included. You just bring yourself and clothes you don't mind getting messy.
- When can I take my piece home?
- Pieces are usually ready within two weeks, once they have dried, been glazed and fired. Collect them from the studio, or we can ship them to you for an extra fee, including abroad.
- Do you offer gift vouchers?
- Yes, on request. Email [email protected] and we will prepare one for the workshop or amount you choose.
Shop & delivery
- Where do you ship?
- Within Greece and to every country in the European Union. You can also collect your order from the studio for free, at a time we arrange together.
- How much is shipping?
- We quote shipping for each order, because ceramics vary a lot in size and weight. You get the cost by email before your order is final, and nothing is charged until you agree.
- Can I return a piece?
- Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to tell us, and 14 more to send it back unused. Return postage is paid by you; we refund the piece and the standard shipping. Custom orders can't be returned for a change of mind.
- What if my piece arrives broken?
- Email us photos of the piece and the packaging within 48 hours of delivery, and we will replace it or refund you in full, including shipping.
Custom orders
- Is there a minimum order?
- Yes: €100. Excluding delivery.
- How long does a custom order take?
- 3–12 weeks. Depending on the complexity and the quantity.
- How much do custom pieces cost?
- As a guide: mugs and cups €15–55, bowls €20–80, plates €15–45, vases from €15. Personalisation, logos or a design of your own can add to the cost.
Kiln & studio hire
- How much does a kiln firing cost?
- €2.50 a litre for loose pieces, €40 for a shelf, €90 for the whole kiln, VAT included. A finished piece takes two firings, biscuit and glaze.
- Which clays and temperatures do you fire?
- Biscuit and glaze firings up to 1280°C (cone 10), for stoneware and earthenware. Tell us your clay and we confirm the temperature before you bring anything in.
- How long does a firing take?
- A firing runs overnight and the kiln needs a day to cool; depending on the kiln schedule, pieces are ready in 4–10 days. You get a collection date when we confirm.
- Can I rent space in the studio?
- Shared ceramic studio space in Athens: €200 a month for 10 hours a week, with equipment, 2 shelves and 40 L of kiln firing included.
Visiting the studio
- Where is the studio?
- At Zan Moreas 5, Athens 11741, Greece.
- Can I visit the studio?
- Yes, by arrangement — there are no fixed opening hours. Email [email protected] and we'll find a time, or book a workshop, the easiest way to see the studio.
